A little bit about the Whip Maker
Alex retired from the US Air Force in 2011, as a Master Sergeant (E-7), after a 24-year career. He then went to the University of South Carolina where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (Liberal Studies) in English, History and Psychology. He graduated with honors in December 2012.
Before joining the Air Force Alex wanted to be an artist, so after retiring from the Air Force, and moving back to Florida, he pursued that dream. He went back to college and entered a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art (Painting) program at the University of South Florida for the 2014 Fall semester. He graduated with honors in May 2017.
In the Summer of 2022, Alex entered the world of self-employment. He started an Etsy store specializing in paracord crafts like: bracelets, lanyards, pet collars, pet leashes, whips, and other items. The venture was an overall success, especially his paracord whips. So, in the Fall of 2025, Alex switched sales from Etsy to this website.
What got Alex interested in whips? Maybe the same thing that got a lot of people interested in whip cracking, Indiana Jones! Watching "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in theaters when it first came out really got his imagination going. But as time progressed, life moved on and eventually all that remained were fond memories.
Then one day, in the early days of COVID, Alex and a friend were browsing through an antique store where they saw an old swivel handle bullwhip hanging in the corner. It wasn't much to look at, the leather was old, worn, and cracked. But, it was enough to spark a conversation that led him to recall his old notion of learning how to crack a whip like Indy. Being the creative type, Alex did not buy that whip instead he went online to try to learn how to make one of his own.
Since he had already started an Etsy story where he sold paracord crafts, he had some paracord on hand. He found some tutorials on YouTube and made his first whip, a micro pocket whip, following Thunderclap Whips tutorial. It wasn't perfect, there was a lot of mistakes made in the process. But after making it, he was hooked. One thing led to another, and here we are today.

CAUTION/WARNING
These are REAL whips and they can hurt you, or someone nearby, if not used with caution. ALWAYS use proper eye protection when using a whip. Also, long sleeves and long pants are highly recommended. DO NOT let young children play with a whip without proper adult supervision. Whips in general are NOT recommended for indoor use, but Alex's smaller (3-foot and shorter) whips, like Micro/Mini-Pocket Snake whips and mini-bullwhips, could be used in a garage (or other small space/tight environment) as long as precautions are taken to prevent damage to nearby objects. When using any whip, make sure you have plenty of room around you, the whip could accidentally wrap or impact nearby objects and/or people which could cause harm or make them fall and/or otherwise get hurt or broken. A whip is a tool and is NEVER intended to strike anyone or anything (including livestock/animals or people). After purchasing a whip from Alex's Whip Shop, we are not accountable for any damage caused or injury incurred from the use of the whip.
PLEASE, be careful and safely enjoy your new whip!
